Fighting the Poverty of Information

"Reducing the Poverty of Information will substantially improve the health, wealth and happiness of millions of people"

Empowerment of the People

In Africa there is a Poverty of Information that exists at all levels of society which impacts on the functionality of government and the lives of every man, woman and child.

Government officials, the private sector and the individual all suffer from the lack of easily available information for planning, implementation and reporting purposes. Often the information exists somewhere but cannot be traced and is not communicated to those who need to know.

This chronic poverty of information in Africa is a serious impediment to development at every level, and therefore reducing the Poverty of Information will have a huge impact on the health, wealth and happiness of millions of people.

Digital technologies now make it possible to provide relevant information to people throughout society at a much lower cost. Good information is empowering and allows everyone to help themselves to make the right decisions that fundamentally improve their lives.

The Digital Revolution provides a golden opportunity to reformat existing information available as text, film, video, photography, charts, TV and radio programmes and make it widely available in digital form. Reworked content can be supplemented with newly recorded and external material from the Internet to provide re-invigorated media materials on all manner of subjects including health, education, agriculture, the environment etc. etc.
